It's funny to watch as Aubrey learns how to talk. Even more so due to her speech problems. She's sort of developed her own language of guttural babble, so now that she's picking up how to say things properly, she is interspersing our language with hers. It's great watching her talk to us in a torrent of unintelligible words and then suddenly throw out something we understand. It's like listening to someone from another country who talks a lot, but only knows a handful of English words.
(Picture her sounds being made from the back of the throat with the mouth closed) "Uh, gu, gu, uh, unn, Mee-ilk.Uh gu unn uh gu Doa-wa." She says Dora fairly clearly now, so Dora books have become some of her favorites. Her vocabulary is rising steadily and its great to hear her say things like "up," "duck," "book," and now even her name. She can name all the parts of her face and even a few extras like arm and knee. It's great to not just know that she understands us, but that we can know understand her.
Of course, the process may go even faster if we can just get her to keep that thumb out of her mouth.
