Labor Day Extravaganza

So this past weekend we really enjoyed ourselves as a family. Saturday, we took a trip to "Celebrate Freedom" Concert in Atlanta. We didn't stay but for a few hours, but we got to see Chris August (check out his song "Starry Night") and KJ-52 in concert, enjoy an overpriced burger, and get our picture taken with Mr. Whitaker from Adventures in Odyssey. At first I thought the picture would be more meaningful to me than to Elijah, but he found "Mit-tuh Whit-ah" fascinating, and has often mentioned the impactive "hi pi" (high five) he gave him. What's interesting is that Elijah now started asking to listen to Adventures in "Ahdsee," which we have done for practically every Tuesday since he was born. Not sure if he has made the connection, but he never asked to listen until after he met Mr. Whitaker.

While we were in Atlanta, we stopped by to see our friends Justin and Lindsey (the other Neals) and their new baby Alexander. Elijah got a little jealous when Stephanie held little "Xander." Perhaps that's a taste of what is to come when Elijah's little brother or sister becomes a reality to him.

On Sunday night, a neighbor down the road lit off fireworks (as he does for his party every Labor Day weekend) so once we heard the first "booo" (boom) we took Elijah outside to watch from our driveway. Well, Elijah did not care too much for the explosions, but rather began screaming and beckoning from the garage for us to follow him inside. It was a rather sad site to see. I guess the fireworks were just "too ahw" (too loud). Maybe next year.
