Dear Mama

This afternoon, the whole family went outside. For the adults, it was a chance to get some yard work done as we listened to an awesome Georgia Bulldog game (who beat #2 Florida 17-9). For the kids, it was a chance to run around and play on a fairly overcast and cool day. After a while though, Elijah wanted to go in by himself and color. So for a while he sat on the floor in the kitchen, then moved to the dining room table to perform his psychedelic artwork. I say that, because although he's beginning to actually color in the lines and not just scribble a single color over the page, he uses the full array of colors, and the end product makes us wonder what was in his juice.

Elijah's letter... complete
with bug guts on the back
Anyway, after a while, he came out brandishing a piece of paper. He said it was a letter for us, "It says, 'Dear Mama and Daddy. I love you very much...'" and something else we couldn't make out. Pretty sweet. Soon after, he came out again with another piece of paper. This was apparently, an "Email" to a friend.

Well, later than evening after the kids were in bed, Stephanie and I were on the couch reading. She smacked a fly on her knee and then proceeded to squish the dead fly in a piece of paper she was using as a book mark. And guess which little piece of paper it was... that's right, Elijah's letter to us. But rest assured, she used good judgment and spared the receipt from the library that was also being used as a bookmark

Sigh. Oh, Mama.
