Overload

This weekend we packed it all in. And I'm pretty sure we forced the kids into too much excitement in too little time. Stephanie dropped the kids off at my parents house Friday afternoon, and I took off early so that we could have a magical evening shopping at the thrift store, the dollar store, and a quick stop by PeachMac. We then topped it off by sharing an Uber Combo at Keba's Spitfire Grill. Then we got up early Saturday to run our first 5K. We completed it just over 33 minutes. We were both pleased with how well we did, but after pushing both kids in the stroller nearly every run, the 5K without them was much easier than expected.

Afterwards, we made our way to my parents house for some showers and then to take the kids to Hamilton Mill Methodist Church for an afternoon of fun at the Fall Fling. We had hamburgers and hotdogs, and the kids got to play some games and jump in some inflatables. Well, Elijah did, Aubrey was mostly along for the ride. That evening we rushed back to go to a block party in our neighborhood. Elijah decided to recycle his cowboy outfit. We got Aubrey a cute bee costume, but she wasn't too impressed. She cried a lot, understandable because she missed her nap... and it showed. So after a delicious hotdog meal, a hayride through Comer, and some messy s'mores, we had to go home, but not before Elijah melted down and Aubrey cried some more. So, we got back home and put the ornery kids to bed.

This morning we slept in a little, having to skip church to go to Kingston's (one of Elijah's friends') birthday party at 11 in Gainesville. It was at a kids Gymnastics place, so their was lots of activity for the kids, but unfortunately, not enough for Elijah's taste. He wasn't ready to go when it was over. It was only two hours, and some of that time was spent eating another wholesome mean of pizza and cake, and then having to watch another child open presents. It was delightful seeing the selfishness well up in my child when he complained to me that he didn't get to open any presents and that having to watch Kingston open his presents was boring and that he wished it was his birthday party. Glad he sees that its not all about him (please not sarcasm).

Since we were so close, Stephanie thought it might be good to go over to Jaemor Farm on our way back home. Let me just tell you, it was magical (please note again, sarcasm). Even though the weather was exceptionally nice, the kids were not quite so cooperative. Elijah did enjoy his four trips down the giant tube slide, but pictures were pretty much a bust trying to tackle two mobile kids this year. Can't wait to experience three. Aubrey started crying as soon as the Pony ride began, and after Elijah got his ego hurt being chastized for hanging on the ropes, he sulked during his pony ride. Since Aubrey gave up her opportunity, I wasn't about to have my $5 go to waste, so I had to cooerce Elijah into going a second time. He did unwillingly, but seemed to enjoy it more the second time, choosing this time to take the full size "big horse." He still complained afterwards about how much it stunk. Well kid, your poop stinks too. And that's not the only thing that does.
